Description: This data set contains a representation of where the use of atrazine is prohibited in the Lower Wisconsin River Valley. Atrazine is a pesticide used to control weeds in cornfields. Atrazine leaches into groundwater and can affect the health of humans if consumed in certain quantities over a lifetime. DATCP defines and administers these areas, called atrazine prohibition areas (PAs), through provisions of Chapter ATCP3 30, Wis. Adm. Code. The actual boundary of the Lower Wisconsin River Valley is defined by statutory language, instead of by a map, in chapter ATCP 30, Wis. Adm. Code.
