Download Data from the DATCP FTP Site
You are about to access DATCP’s FTP site where you can download a zip file named DATCP_LAND_WATER_MGMT.zip. This zip file contains a file geodatabase which contains two feature classes showing atrazine prohibition areas in Wisconsin. The feature class named "ATRAZINE_PA" contains all atrazine prohibition areas in the state that have boundaries defined by a map in Admin Code ATCP 30. The feature class named "ATRAZINE_PA_LWRV" contains a graphical representation of the Lower Wisconsin River Valley prohibition area. The actual boundaries of the Lower Wisconsin River Valley atrazine prohibition area are defined by text, not a map, in Admin Code ATCP 30. Specifically, Admin Code ATCP 30 states:
“Lower Wisconsin River Valley” means the river terraces and flood plain on either side of the Wisconsin River, downstream of the highway 60 bridge at Prairie du Sac and upstream of the confluence of the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers, except that atrazine may be applied to medium- and fine-textured soils in Township 9 North, Range 1 West sections 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33 and 34 and Township 9 North, Range 2 West, sections 25, 26, 27, 28, 32, 33, 34, 35 and 36 in compliance with ss. ATCP 30.31 and ATCP 30.32
Both feature classes should be used for general reference and display purposes only. Admin Code ATCP 30 and the maps in ATCP 30 - Appendix A contain the official boundaries of atrazine prohibition areas. Any maps made with the downloaded feature classes should not be used for site-specific determinations about where atrazine may or may not be applied. DATCP does not maintain a list of entities with which we have shared this data. It is the responsibility of the user to contact DATCP annually to see if any additions have been made to Admin Code ATCP 30.
